Maximillien

Maximillien

Maximillien dishes up an exquisite epicurean experience in the comfort of a stylish yet welcoming ambience. Their meticulous attention to detail and relentless pursuit of service excellence is equally important to serve only the most mouth-watering dishes. A convivial atmosphere of warm lighting with contemporary elements correlates a classic aesthetic, welcoming diners from the door and is beautifully complemented by an ethic of producing the finest quality food.

Behind the scenes, Chef Sylvester Nair keeps the engines churning in the kitchen, as dishes (filled with love and passion) pour out of its doors.
Chef Sylvester places his own touch on the dishes. Think nasturtium garnishes, jasmine flavoured pearls, and rice coloured with squid ink to give a different spin on a traditional side dish.

Amazing flavours, taste combinations and stylish plate presentation are to be expected when eating here. Beaming smiles and the feeling that you've somehow switched off from the hustle and bustle of the city, are just some of the reasons that make it well worth the visit.

Growing up in Verulam, north of Durban, Chef Sylvester was around food from a young age. His father and grandmother were chefs, and he recalls his father taking him in to the kitchen to show him the hospitality industry - in what he suspects was an attempt to `knock it out of him'. To be honest, we're very glad that it didn't!

The Maximillien remains to be one of the most opulent and **** settings in Johannesburg. Think dark wood, luxury leather and dim lighting, it's the perfect spot for a date night, or even a celebration. We got treated by Hello Joburg to an sensational evening of cuisine and brandy tasting. Decadent dishes, yummy desserts and amazing company, made for a gorgeous evening of sumptuousness.

We had an absolutely spectacular dining experience at this beautiful restaurant. From the moment you walk in, the restaurant's decor and ambiance creates an expectation of sophistication and class that we're happy to say they deliver on. The food was superb - our favourites were the calamari starter as well as our main of beef medallions on saffron risotto. Great use of flavour and some really clever cooking. Thank you Hello Jo'burg for a fantastic evening!

The elegant and sophisticated Maximillien restaurant in Sandton is an experience from the moment you step through the door. The view of Sandton lights, the soft lighting and excellent live music sets the scene perfectly for the delicious, if somewhat pricey, food. The crayfish and avo stack is a must, the beef medallions were perfect and the creme brûlée had me finding space for more! Fantastic!

Maximillien offers top quality food in a beautiful restaurant.

We were treated to a crayfish tier- a dish consisting of Crayfish and avo. Next up were a variety of starters to try.
Ranging from deep fried mozzarella balls to calamari and a caprese salad.

A delicious palate cleanser led the way to the main meal. A fillet steak topped with a herb butter served on a bed of veg and sauted baby potatoes.

I'm waiting with excited anticipation for my marmalade infused mascarpone cheese crepes

Maximillien has a classy lounge feel to it, which is supported by superb live music. The service, a big selling point for me, is top-notch and the staff all know their stuff when it comes to the ins and outs of the menu. Speaking of which the menu is simple but extensive, with something for everyone. I was especially impressed with our waitron's extensive knowledge of the wine menu, and was thoroughly impressed with all the courses, especially my main.

What a fancy experience! Lovely ambience with the most amazing band singing away in the background. My crayfish starter was delicious, fresh and so tasty. I had salmon for mains and although so tender it could have done with a little bit more seasoning but was still A class. Lovely staff, innovative food and great company ? see you again!
